RHU projects (Hospital–University Research) are excellence programs supported by the French National Research Agency (ANR) as part of France 2030. Their objective is to promote translational health research by bringing together fundamental research, clinical research, and industrial innovation to achieve a direct impact on patient care.
An RHU project is characterized by:
- A strong ambition: to develop innovative solutions addressing major medical needs.
- A structured partnership: bringing together hospital, academic, and industrial teams within a collaborative ecosystem.
- A multidisciplinary approach: combining clinical expertise, preclinical research, and advanced technologies.
- Concrete impact: accelerating the transfer of discoveries into medical practice and therapeutic solutions.
These projects are funded for a maximum duration of 5 years, with significant resources (up to €10 million) to transform research into innovations that benefit patients.
TIPITCH
an RHU project to revolutionize the management of hemorrhagic stroke
The TIPITCH project is fully aligned with this dynamic. Its ambition: to improve the prognosis of people affected by hemorrhagic stroke, a severe condition that is still too often associated with a poor outcome and for which, to date, no specific treatment exists.
Develops new therapeutic strategies, building on scientific advances and innovative clinical trials.
Creates a national registry and a brain imaging analysis center dedicated to the condition
Brings together academic, hospital, and industrial partners, to accelerate the translation of discoveries into clinical practice.
Structures a care pathway specific to spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage
By bringing together research, clinical practice, and innovation, TIPITCH perfectly illustrates the mission of RHU projects: transforming research into tangible benefits for patients.
We talk a lot about the scientific challenge of this RHU TIPITCH project, but the human challenge seems just as immense.
What does that imply, in your view?
Changing stroke care means changing deeply rooted habits.
In your view, what are the key levers to engage healthcare professionals in this transformation?
RHU TIPITCH: a convergence of disciplines in the service of an underexplored condition?
